Hareline Poly Pro Braid

Hareline Poly Pro Braid

When the big dry fly box needs to be stocked, Hareline's Poly Pro Braid has you covered, whether you're tying big hoppers and stoneflies or massive hexes and drakes. Poly Pro Braid is a braided version of Polypropylene Yarn with excellent buoyancy and segmentation that makes tying extended-body dry flies as easy as it comes. And whenever you want to tie something more technical, like a small sulfur spinner, the braided fibers can be brushed out to get clean bunches of Polypropylene Yarn. A durable material with great versatility, Poly Pro Braid is available in a range of colors to suit whatever bug you're imitating.

Uses

Poly Pro Braid is a versatile synthetic material that's most commonly used to tie extended-body dry flies (think hoppers, crickets, stoneflies, and large mayflies), parachute wings, and you can even brush the fibers out to get standard Polypropylene Yarn.

Comparisons

If you're looking for a substitute material that will tie extended-body dry flies, then Hareline's Thin Fly Foam is a great alternative. Thin Fly Foam allows you to tie lightweight extended bodies that also float incredibly well, but it takes a bit more work to achieve the segmentation and often requires the fly to be tied on a sewing needle before you can attach it to the hook. Both of these are excellent options and have their place in your box, but if convenience is what you're after, then Poly Pro Braid is a better choice.
